The Federal Reserve just released minutes Wednesday of its policy meeting Jan. 29-30, with the market watching closely for clues about the central bank's views on a variety of matters.
Because of the inclement weather, the Fed did not hold its usual lock-up for media members ahead of the release. As a result, we'll be posting important parts of the meeting summation on a rolling basis here.
The Federal Open Market Committee at the meeting voted to keep its benchmark interest rate target at 2.25 percent to 2.5 percent. More significantly, the committee indicated it will take a "patient" approach to further policy moves, indicating to the market a dovish stance that helped push a stocks rally.
